Collecting the tree.

The tree needed to recover before training could begin.

The tree was styled after it was fully recovered from collection. Some branches were removed to create a deadwood feature called a jin. This gives an appearance of age.

One of the trunk sections was long and straight so was not convincing as a tree. In December 2018 a few from the club set about bending the trunk.

The trunk was bent gradually over a few weeks until it was at the desired angle. It was then left to ‘set’ in that position.

The tree was then ready for a gradual progression over the next few years.
