Tree 18: Japanese Larch

Tree Species: Japanese Larch (Larix kaempferi)

Owner: Ian Young – NIBS member since 1993 and current club Chairperson

Potter if Known: Japanese ‘Shoku’

History:

This tree was spotted by Ian back in 2002 when Robert Porch in Scotland had it for sale. It displays quality bark and has an elegant tall formal image. Tree below in 2002.

After a few years work and potted into a wallsall pot.

In more recent years the image has changed, some by design some by a natural dropping of branches that larch often do. It spent a few years in the round Dragonfly pot below before being moved into a larger shallower Shoku pot, giving the tree a very different feel.
